Google finally puts an end to the mega gala of release 2017 by launching the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
And there have been remarkable updates from the previous models.
Google has certainly made some progress, although the question still stands, is it worth the upgrade?
Let’s take a closer look
Designs – Looks like Pixel 2 Pulled an iPhone 8
And by that I mean Pixel 2 has not been a delight as far as design is concerned.
Unlike Pixel 2 XL, that had its bezels trimmed like the hot trend that has been going on, it has broad bezels that almost make it look no special.
Pixel 2 is slightly taller than Pixel, but it’s thinner so it ends up at two models with exactly the same weight!
Remember how google mocked Apple for removing the headphone jacks in its Pixel advertisements?
So now not only has Google decided to stick with the broad bezels in the peak time of edge-to-edge screen but also removed the headphone jacks!
And there has not been an addition of wireless charging along as in iPhone 8, so we can all see who’s at a disadvantage.
But hey! It’s not all bad.
Now Pixel 2 has an aluminum making it easier to grip and the stereo speakers built into the bezels are unmatchable.
Moreover, it is also water resistant and dust resistant which as a big flaw in the Pixel.
Now you can submerge your phone for 30 minutes up to 1 meter without the slightest damage.
It’s not really Google’s fault that the best Qualcomm’s chip is not better than Apple’s A11.
But Google claims that it is still worth the upgrade because Snapdragon 835 has 27% better performance and 30% more efficiency than Snapdragon 821 chipset.
Despite all this, the real strength of Pixel 2 lies in the stock Android, as did Pixel’s.
And while that doesn’t make it extra ordinary according to the trending standard, it remains to be the fastest mobile phone for the real work.
Then there is the amazing super-fast fingerprint sensor.
In a world where iPhone is getting all the hate for ditching the fingerprint sensor, this may be a very good selling point for Pixel 2.
Camera – Did Not See This Coming, or Did We?
One thing that Pixel stood out for was its incredible camera.
This year Google has taken that game to a whole a new level.
While the rivals are playing around with dual lens camera, Pixel 2 still has one.
Disadvantage? Not really!
What other achieved with two lenses, Pixel 2 did with only one!
With the perfect combination of software and hardware, it is without a doubt the best camera test in forever.
It may seem like a disappointment to upgrade to Pixel 2, especially with the Pixel 2 XL looking so dashing, but you can see that Google has done a very thorough and rather amazing job in mending the original shortcomings of Pixel.
Pixel 2 is everything Pixel was not, so yes! It is actually a worthy successor of Pixel.
